This plan allegedly came to light after Bello narrowly evaded arrest during a recent raid on his residence in Abuja by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
It appears that multiple sources, speaking to Sahara Reporter, have disclosed that the former governor, Yahaya Bello, who is wanted by the EFCC for alleged fraud amounting to over N80 billion, is planning to flee to a North African country where one of his wives resides and manages their investments.
According to a family member, Bello holds passports from both a North African nation and an Arab nation, suggesting significant ties and investments in these regions, particularly in Morocco and Dubai.
The sources expressed concerns about Bello’s tenure as governor, alleging that he neglected most parts of Kogi State, with only a few areas benefiting from development projects.
They accused him of mismanagement, corruption, and nepotism, claiming that his administration was marked by oppression and unreported killings
There are speculations that Bello is preparing for a court bail with substantial financial resources, hinting at a possible intention to travel out of Nigeria.
