The Plateau State Police Command has recorded a major breakthrough in its fight against crime, recovering three stolen vehicles and arresting ten suspects involved in a car theft syndicate operating within the state.
According to a police report, the incident began on May 12, 2025, when a distressed resident of Rayfield, Jos, reported a case of burglary and car theft at the Anglo-Jos Police Division.
The homeowner had returned from the market to find his house at A12 Da Chuwang Gazu Road broken into.
The intruders reportedly gained access through a window and carted away valuables, including clothes, shoes, phones, a laptop, and a black Toyota Highlander SUV (2005 model) with registration number KSF 322 DE.
Acting on the report, officers of the Plateau State Command launched an immediate investigation. Weeks of intelligence gathering and surveillance paid off on Friday, June 27, when the stolen Toyota Highlander was traced and recovered around 4pm in Jos.
Eight suspects were arrested in connection with the case, and further investigations led to the arrest of two more individuals believed to be part of the syndicate.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina, commended the officers for their swift response and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to rooting out criminal elements from Plateau State.
Police authorities say investigations are still ongoing, and all suspects will be charged to court once the process is concluded
