Plateau Governor Reveals Over 12,000 Killed and 420 Communities Attacked Since 200
Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has disclosed a devastating account of two decades of violence in the state. According to the governor, more than 12,000 people have been killed, over 420 communities attacked, and countless homes, farmlands, and means of livelihood destroyed between 2001 and May 2025.
He described the figures as a tragic reminder of the long-standing security challenges confronting Plateau State, stressing that the human and economic toll has been severe and deeply felt across multiple local government areas.
Governor Mutfwang reiterated his administration’s commitment to restoring peace, rebuilding affected communities, and ensuring justice for victims. He called for sustained collaboration between security agencies, community leaders, and the federal government to put a permanent end to the cycle of violence.
