Hon. Chief Sarpiya Danyaro Dakon has formally declared his intention to contest for the governorship of Plateau State under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
The declaration, held on Saturday, April 19, 2026, marks a significant milestone in his political journey and has already begun to attract attention and support from key stakeholders across the state.
The engagement commenced at Ampang Ward, where Dr. Dakon addressed party members and supporters, before proceeding to Mangu Local Government Area to further communicate his vision and intention.
Speaking at both locations, he emphasized his commitment to promoting peace, unity, and sustainable development across Plateau State. He reassured the people that, if elected, his administration would prioritize security, inclusive governance, and impactful policies that directly improve the lives of citizens.
Dr. Dakon was accompanied by notable stakeholders, including Joseph N. Maichella and Joshua Mape, alongside other respected community leaders—an indication of the growing confidence in his aspiration.
In a strong show of grassroots support, the Chairman of Ampang Ward, Hosea Manji Zachariah, who hails from the same community, openly declared his full backing and pledged to mobilize support at the ward level.
Similarly, the PDP Chairman of Mangu LGA, Nathaniel Godfrey, expressed his endorsement and assured of the party’s readiness to support Dr. Dakon’s ambition.
Other stakeholders present also delivered goodwill messages, reaffirming their commitment to stand by him throughout the political process.
