Sunday Garba Biggs has formally declared his intention to contest for the governorship of Plateau State under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
The declaration attracted a broad spectrum of party stakeholders and supporters from within and outside the state. Among those in attendance were members of the Mangu PDP Local Government Executive Committee, councillorship aspirants, House of Assembly aspirants from Mangu North and South, as well as other key political figures.
Also present was Nathaniel Godfrey, PDP LGA Chairman in Mangu, who reaffirmed the strength and relevance of the party, dismissing claims of decline and emphasizing that the PDP remains vibrant and active.
In his address, Biggs expressed gratitude to God and appreciation to party leaders, stakeholders, and citizens for their continued support. He stated that his decision to run is driven by a genuine desire to serve and reposition Plateau State for sustainable growth and prosperity.
Drawing from his extensive civil service experience, where he rose to the peak of his career, he noted that he possesses a deep understanding of the state’s challenges and the pathway to effective governance. He pledged to lead with inclusiveness, accountability, and responsiveness to the needs of the people.
Addressing pressing issues such as economic hardship, insecurity, unemployment, and infrastructural deficits, Biggs called for a new direction. He outlined his vision to build a peaceful and secure Plateau State, create jobs through agricultural revitalization and business support, improve education and healthcare systems, and develop critical infrastructure.
He also emphasized the need for unity and inclusive governance across ethnic, religious, and social lines, urging citizens to work together toward a shared and prosperous future.
Biggs called on PDP members and leaders to remain united ahead of the elections, stressing that party cohesion is key to achieving electoral success and delivering good governance. He further encouraged youths and women to actively participate in shaping the future of the state.
He concluded by inviting all citizens, regardless of political affiliation, to join him in a collective movement for progress, peace, and renewed hope.
