In a remarkable show of community development and commitment to grassroots progress, the Managing Director of Jos Water Services Corporation, Engr. Apollos Samchi, on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, donated 50 solar-powered streetlights to Mangu Halle and adjoining villages within the ward.

The event, which attracted key stakeholders, traditional rulers, political leaders, and community members, marked a significant step toward improving security, accessibility, and night-time safety in the area.

Speaking during the presentation, Engr. Samchi, who was accompanied by some of his directors, expressed deep appreciation to guests for honoring the occasion. He reiterated his unwavering commitment to addressing issues that concern Halle Ward and Mangu Local Government Area.

According to him, the gesture was inspired by the developmental strides of His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, Executive Governor of Plateau State, who has been championing street lighting projects across Jos.

> “I am learning from my principal, His Excellency Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, who has continued to illuminate the streets of Jos. In that spirit, I am committed to lighting up Mangu Halle Ward to enhance security and community life,” Engr. Samchi stated.

 

He further appreciated Governor Mutfwang for entrusting him with the leadership of the Jos Water Services Corporation, pledging to remain diligent and committed to justifying the confidence reposed in him.

In his remarks, the District Head of Halle, Da. Apollos Parmak, lauded Engr. Samchi for the kind gesture, describing him as “a worthy son of the soil” and a pride to the district.

Other dignitaries who spoke at the event included Hon. Jonathan Fwangden, Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Duties; Hon. Samson Lankuk, Chief of Staff to the Executive Chairman of Mangu LGA; and Hon. Amos Eldad, Councillor representing Halle Ward. Each commended Engr. Samchi for his generosity and community-oriented leadership.

Also speaking, Mrs. Rahila Damak, PDP Women Leader, applauded Engr. Samchi’s exceptional contributions to community development and inclusive leadership. Similarly, Hon. Nanchin, former Councillor of Halle Ward, appreciated him for consistently carrying everyone along, irrespective of political affiliations, including members of the APC.

The high point of the event was the symbolic presentation of the solar streetlights to the District Head and other critical stakeholders, marking the official handover of the project to the community.
