Frontline political figure and development advocate, Alfred Dapal Damiyal (ADD), has officially declared his intention to contest for the office of Governor of Plateau State under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.
The declaration follows extensive consultations with PDP stakeholders, respected elders, youths, market leaders, opinion shapers, and civil servants across the state. It signals his readiness to obtain the party’s governorship nomination form and marks a decisive step toward offering what he describes as purposeful leadership and a renewed vision for Plateau State.
Addressing journalists, Damiyal emphasized his commitment to restoring unity, strengthening institutions, and driving sustainable development across key sectors of the state.
“Plateau State stands at a critical juncture. This moment demands visionary leadership, inclusive governance, and decisive action. I am stepping forward not just as an aspirant, but as a servant leader committed to the peace, progress, and prosperity of our people,” he said.
He outlined key priorities of his proposed administration, including economic revitalization, youth empowerment, improved security, infrastructure development, and the promotion of peaceful coexistence among the state’s diverse communities.
His campaign is anchored on the slogan “NEW THINKING for a NEW PLATEAU,” which, according to him, reflects a commitment to fresh ideas, innovative policies, and a departure from conventional approaches to governance. He noted that Plateau’s challenges require bold, forward-looking solutions driven by creativity, inclusiveness, and strategic planning.
Damiyal also called on party faithful and citizens across the state to rally behind a shared vision for rebuilding and repositioning Plateau State for greater opportunities.
“Together, we can build a Plateau that works for everyone—a state where every citizen, regardless of background, can thrive,” he added.
As consultations and political engagements intensify ahead of the PDP primaries, Damiyal reaffirmed his commitment to a transparent, issue-based campaign rooted in integrity, competence, and service.
