The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, on Wednesday attended the opening ceremony of the 34th Engineering Assembly of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) in Abuja.
The event brought together engineering professionals, policymakers, industry leaders, and other key stakeholders to deliberate on strategies for advancing engineering practice and harnessing innovation for national development.
Themed “Shaping Solutions, Building a Greater Future,” the Assembly highlighted the critical role of engineers in addressing Nigeria’s developmental challenges through technological innovation, infrastructure development, and sustainable economic growth.
Speaking after the ceremony, Prof. Yilwatda, a distinguished engineer, described the theme as timely and reflective of the engineering profession’s responsibility to provide practical solutions to the nation’s challenges. He emphasized the need for stronger collaboration among engineers, government institutions, academia, and the private sector to drive sustainable development and build resilient infrastructure across the country.
He also commended COREN for its unwavering commitment to promoting professionalism, ethical standards, and excellence in engineering practice, noting that the Assembly provides an important platform for knowledge exchange and policy dialogue.
The 34th COREN Engineering Assembly is expected to feature technical sessions, policy discussions, and strategic engagements aimed at strengthening the engineering profession and supporting Nigeria’s long-term development aspirations.
