According to reports from the weekend, a tragic assault by bandits in Katsina State has resulted in the loss of at least twenty-four lives, with numerous others sustaining injuries.
The attack targeted Unguwar Sarkin Noma, a community in the Sabuwa Local Government Area of the state. The victims, primarily members of the local vigilante group, were reportedly confronting the assailants when the violence occurred.

A local security official, speaking to Channels Television, revealed that the recent attack in Katsina State, lasting about an hour, targeted four villages as retaliation for military operations against bandit hideouts. The bandits, invading Unguwar Sarkin Noma, Gangara, Tafi, and Kore, fired indiscriminately to intimidate residents.
Chairman of Sabuwa Local Government Council, Faruq Dalhatu, confirmed that 23 victims were buried according to Islamic customs on Friday, with the final victim interred after being pronounced dead in the hospital.
Security agencies responded to distress calls, but the bandits attacked before assistance arrived. The state police command has yet to comment on the incident. Sabuwa is among the eight most vulnerable frontline Local Government Areas in Katsina State, facing escalating bandit activities.
