Breaking: Senate Sacks Danladi Usman As CCT Chairman

The Nigerian Senate has removed Danladi Usman from his position as Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT).

The decision was made during a closed-door session on Wednesday, where 84 out of the 107 serving Senators signed in favor of his removal.

The Senate invoked Section 157(1) of the 1999 Constitution, which grants the legislative body the authority to remove the head of a statutory body on grounds of gross misconduct or misdemeanors, provided two-thirds of the members support the decision.

Further details regarding the reasons for Danladi Usman’s removal and the next steps for the tribunal are expected to emerge soon.
