Nigerian superstar musician Davido, whose real name is David Adeleke, has announced his continued commitment to philanthropy by pledging ₦300 million to orphanages across Nigeria through his Davido Adeleke Foundation.

On his X handle, Davido shared, “Once again my birthday this year we Donating to orphanages and a charity that helps young people stay away from drug abuse & addiction. This year is ₦300m. Details to follow soon.”

Davido established the Davido Adeleke Foundation (DAF) in 2022, with the mission to assist vulnerable children and provide essential support for their well-being.

His dedication to philanthropy has been evident through various donations, including a substantial amount of over ₦200 million given to orphanages in July 2023, benefiting nearly 13,818 children. He has also promised to continue his charitable efforts into 2024.

Reflecting on his inspiration, Davido began his birthday donation tradition in 2021 when he shared his bank account details online, encouraging friends to send him gifts.

The result was a whopping ₦200 million, which he donated to orphanages. His foundation’s mission, as expressed in a 2022 press release, is driven by a “strong desire and passion to continually assist and create a proper framework for charitable works to benefit the good people of Nigeria.”

Through DAF, Davido has been able to impact the lives of countless children across the country, significantly improving their living conditions and opportunities.
