Power Distribution Companies (DisCos) have begun recovering load capacity following the third collapse of Nigeria’s national grid this week. As of 2:30 p.m., the total DisCo load had increased to 450 megawatts (MW), with a target of 4,800 MW, according to the National Grid.
Here is the current distribution of load across the DisCos:
– Abuja DisCo: 80 MW
– Benin DisCo: 70 MW
– Eko DisCo: 70 MW
– Enugu DisCo: 0 MW
– Ibadan DisCo: 100 MW
– Ikeja DisCo: 130 MW
– Jos DisCo: 0 MW
– Kaduna DisCo: 0 MW
– Kano DisCo: 0 MW
– Port Harcourt DisCo: 0 MW
– Yola DisCo: 0 MW
Total load allocation: 450 MW
The national grid collapsed for the third time early on Saturday, leading to widespread blackouts across many states.
Data from the Nigerian System Operator’s portal revealed the grid recorded zero megawatts as of 8:16 a.m.
The national grid later confirmed via its verified social media account on X (formerly Twitter) that seven of the eleven electricity distribution companies were operating with zero load allocation.
Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) spokesperson Ndidi Mbah later issued a statement, confirming that power had been restored.
