EFCC Clarifies the Controversial List of Ex-Governors Under Investigation

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has officially refuted a false report circulating in the media.

The erroneous claim suggests that the EFCC has published a list of 58 former governors under investigation for alleged corruption, accompanied by a headline reading: “EFCC Releases Full List of 58 Ex-Governors that Embezzled N2.187 Trillion.”

The EFCC has categorically stated that the report is entirely fabricated and misleading. According to a statement released on Sunday by the Commission’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dayo Oyewale, no such list has been disseminated, and there have been no discussions with any media outlet regarding investigations into former governors.

The EFCC has urged the public to disregard the false report, emphasizing its inaccuracy. Furthermore, the Commission has advised the media to verify facts and authenticate information with them before publishing to prevent the spread of false information.
