The District Head of Bosso in Minna Emirate Council, Niger State, Alhaji Mu’azu Adamu Laka Bosso, has dismissed Abdulahi Isah, also known as Biodun, from his position as Wakilin Matasan Bosso.
According to a report by Daily Trust, the dismissal was linked to Biodun’s support for the planned nationwide protests.
In a letter titled “Letter of Dismissal,” Mu’azu stated: “I hereby write to inform you that you have been dismissed from your title as Youth Leader of Bosso (Wakilin Matasan Bosso) with immediate effect from 28/07/2024.
You should no longer call yourself the Youth Leader of Bosso.” Although the letter did not specify the reason for the dismissal, the district head later clarified in an interview on a Hausa program, Prestige, that Biodun was relieved of his title for endorsing the forthcoming protests against hardship.
Mu’azu emphasized that his domain would not tolerate any actions that could lead to a breakdown of law and order.
In a related development, Taraba State has been rocked by the murder of a traditional ruler and his son. Alhaji Tanimu Kunbiya, the third-class chief of Chanchanji in Takum local government area, and his son, Yusuf Kunbiya, were killed by unknown gunmen on Friday evening.
The attack took place on the Takum-Chanchanji road as they were returning from a burial ceremony, plunging the area into tension and unrest.
This tragic event follows the recent killing of the village head of Usmanu in Karim-Lamido local government area, Alhaji Auwal Abubakar, and his younger brother by gunmen.
The state police spokesperson, Gambo Kwache, confirmed the killings and noted that additional security forces have been deployed to restore peace.
Chief James Baka, President General of the Tiv Cultural and Social Association, condemned the killings in a statement and urged the government and security agencies to bring the perpetrators to justice. He also called on the community to remain calm and allow security operatives to perform their duties.
