The All Progressives Congress (APC) North Central stakeholders have issued a warning to President Bola Tinubu, threatening to work against him if the region does not secure the national chairmanship position during the upcoming National Executive Council (NEC) election.
This development follows President Tinubu’s approval of the NEC and National Caucus meeting scheduled for September 11 and 12, 2024.
The North Central stakeholders are concerned about being marginalized and have expressed their intent to resist any attempts to overlook their region for the position.
Alhaji Saleh Mandung Zazzaga, leader of the North Central APC Forum, stated that if their demands are not met during the NEC meeting, they will consider consultations with other parties and explore options to support leaders or platforms that prioritize the region’s interests.
Ibrahim Muhammad Rabiu, chairman of the North Central Reality Movement (NRCM), also warned that failing to resolve the leadership issue in favor of the North Central could lead to internal crisis within the APC.
He emphasized that while some members may publicly respect President Tinubu, they could undermine the party’s agenda if they feel marginalized.
This situation adds tension within the APC as stakeholders from the North Central region push for representation and a fair share in the party’s leadership structure.
