Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has announced an ambitious plan to construct 286 primary and secondary schools across the 17 local government areas (LGAs) of the state. This initiative aligns with his administration’s commitment to revamping the educational sector and ensuring access to quality education for children in both urban and rural communities.
Governor Mutfwang, in a recent address, emphasized that education remains a top priority for his administration. He highlighted that the lack of adequate school infrastructure has hindered learning outcomes in Plateau State, making it imperative for the government to take bold steps to improve the situation.
“Education is the foundation of any progressive society. Our goal is to provide a conducive learning environment for our children, ensuring they have access to quality education regardless of their location,” the governor stated.
Project Scope and Implementation
The proposed 286 schools will be strategically distributed across the 17 LGAs, ensuring that all regions benefit from the development. The project will include:
- Renovation of existing schools in poor condition.
- Construction of new classrooms, libraries, and science laboratories.
- Provision of modern learning facilities, including ICT centers.
The construction is expected to be phased to allow for proper monitoring and execution, with an emphasis on local participation to boost economic opportunities within the communities.
