Please Protect Our Lives And Properties – APC Begs Security Operatives As Protesters Target Matawalle’s Residence

The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has condemned an attempt by some protesters to attack the residence of the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, in Gusau, Zamfara State.

The party expressed its concerns through a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Yusuf Idris, on Thursday.

Idris noted that the nationwide protests, initially intended to be peaceful, have turned problematic in Zamfara.

He claimed that thugs were deployed specifically to target the APC members’ personalities and properties.

Idris urged security operatives to protect their lives and properties, highlighting that the protesters attempted to attack Matawalle’s personal residence on the first day of the protests.

He recalled a previous incident in 2023 when Matawalle’s residence was burgled by thugs, stressing that security forces should prevent such occurrences from repeating.

He commended the security agencies for their proactive measures, which he said prevented the protesters from destroying the minister’s house.

Idris also mentioned that the thugs attacked Senator Sahabi Yau’s residence in Kaura Namoda, damaging many valuables and his Toyota Hilux van under the guise of peaceful protests.

Idris pointed out that the APC had anticipated the hijacking of the protests by hoodlums and other miscreants, which has now materialized.

He called on security agencies to protect all well-meaning citizens and urged youths not to be manipulated by bad politicians.

He emphasized that the protests, being a constitutional right, should remain peaceful and free from threats to life and property.
