President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed new Directors-General for the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and the Department of State Services (DSS). This development was announced by Ajuri Ngelale, the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, on Monday.
The new Director-General of the NIA is Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed, who has had a distinguished career in the foreign service since joining the agency in 1995.
His roles included serving in countries like North Korea, Pakistan, Sudan, and Libya, and his promotion to Director was a testament to his extensive experience.
The new DSS Director-General is Mr. Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi, who rose through the ranks within the DSS.
He has served in various capacities, including as State Director in Bauchi, Enugu, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Kogi.
These appointments follow the resignation of the former heads of the NIA and DSS. President Tinubu expects the new security chiefs to enhance collaboration with other agencies and align with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) to address Nigeria’s security challenges effectively.
The outgoing NIA Director-General, Ahmed Abubakar, cited personal and family issues as reasons for his resignation.
He expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for the opportunity to serve and pledged continued support for Nigeria’s security efforts.
