President Bola Tinubu has instructed all ministers in his administration to periodically update the Nigerian populace on their ministry’s activities, achievements, and policy implementations.
This directive was disclosed by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, during a press conference held in Abuja.
Idris emphasized that the directive aims to foster transparency and accountability, allowing ministers to engage directly with Nigerians and address public inquiries.
The briefings will be conducted on a rotational basis, with ministers presenting updates weekly.
This initiative aligns with preparations for the second anniversary of Tinubu’s administration, underscoring its commitment to keeping citizens informed.
In related developments, the federal government has commenced the process of appointing a new Accountant-General of the Federation (AGF) and two federal permanent secretaries.
This announcement was made by Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HCSF), through a statement by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Eno Olotu.
Walson-Jack outlined that the appointments would follow a structured, multi-tiered evaluation system to ensure the selection of qualified and competent individuals. She highlighted that the upcoming vacancies include:
- Accountant-General of the Federation: The current AGF is set to retire in March 2025.
- Permanent Secretary Positions: One vacancy resulted from the recent retirement of a permanent secretary from Oyo State, while another is due to an impending vacancy in the North-West geopolitical zone.
