Former Kaduna Central Senator Shehu Sani has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani welcomed him and 49 other political figures at a mega rally held at Murtala Square on Saturday.
Addressing the gathering, Shehu Sani emphasized that all defectors would enjoy equal rights and privileges within the APC, stating that there is no distinction between new and long-standing members. He encouraged his supporters to embrace the APC, highlighting the party’s popularity due to its leadership at both state and federal levels.
Governor Uba Sani assured the new members of fairness in governance, regardless of their past political affiliations. He acknowledged that leaders are not infallible and urged them to provide constructive criticism when necessary. He also reminded APC members that they would be held accountable for their leadership decisions.
Among the notable politicians who defected alongside Shehu Sani were former Kaduna State Governor Muktar Ramalan-Yero, Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi, former NNPP gubernatorial candidate Sani Sha’aban, Senator Danjuma Laah, former PDP National Organising Secretary Abubakar Mustapha, and former Nigerian envoy to South Korea, Ambassador Sule Buba.
