The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for establishing the Ministry of Livestock Development. In a statement released in Abuja on Tuesday and signed by its president, Baba Othman-Ngelzarma, MACBAN acknowledged that President Tinubu has kept his promise to enhance Nigeria’s agricultural productivity and ensure food security through the creation of this ministry.
Plateau News reported that President Tinubu announced the formation of the Ministry during a State House event on Tuesday, where he also inaugurated the presidential committee on livestock development.
MACBAN responded by stating that the Ministry of Livestock Development would unlock the potential of the livestock industry, which is valued at trillions of naira. The association noted that President Tinubu has realized a goal that MACBAN had been striving to achieve for many years.
“With this development, MACBAN believes, the hope of the Nigerian pastoralists is now achieved under the Renewed Hope Agenda. The promise made by President Tinubu to raise the productive capacity of Nigerian agriculture to ensure food security is being fulfilled. We, as an association, had for years been agitating tooth and nail to actualize the creation of a stand-alone ministry to modernize livestock production systems in line with global best practices,” the statement read.
The MACBAN president added, “On behalf of the Chairman and members of the Board of Trustees of MACBAN, His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar III, and the entire members of the Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria across the nation, we heartily congratulate the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces for this wonderful development.”
