The Fatan Alheri Media Inter-Tribal Football Competition concluded in grand style today, January 2, 2025, with Rumada FC crowned as champions of the maiden edition. The competition, aimed at fostering unity and peaceful coexistence among the various tribes in Mangu Local Government, saw participation from teams representing diverse ethnic groups.
The final match was attended by notable dignitaries, including the acting registrar of the College of Education, Gindiri, Chief Amb. Fabong; a representative of the immediate past commissioner for the environment, Hon. Elisha Bitrus; veteran journalist Mr. Shabul Mazadu; and Golbe Elisha, captain of Plateau United, among others. They applauded the players for their efforts and encouraged them to strive for excellence.
In a thrilling finale, Rumada FC defeated Fulani FC with a score of 2-0, clinching the championship title. Mupun FC secured third place. Individual and team awards were presented, including Best Goalkeeper (Rabiu), Best Player (Lawandi), Highest Goal Scorer (Umar), Best Coach (Bala, Fulani FC), and Most Disciplined Team (Fulani FC).
The Rumada FC players expressed their gratitude to God and their joy at emerging as winners of the historic competition.
The convener of the event, Hon. Walshak Kefas, CEO of Fatan Alheri Media, expressed his heartfelt appreciation to God and thanked the Central Committee Chairman, Engr. Fukji Gorip, and his team for their exceptional work.
He also acknowledged the support of several key sponsors and supporters, including Hon. Abdul Yanga, Member Representing Mangu North in the Plateau State House of Assembly; Dr. Patrick Dakum, Institute of Virology, Abuja; Dr. Benjamin Sumi, Chief Medical Director, Plateau State Hospitals Management Board; Mr. David Daser, C.E.O./President, DBI; Hon. Veteran journalist Mr. Shabul Mazadu commended the initiative and pledged massive support for the next edition, emphasising the importance of such events in promoting unity and harmony in the community.
