Rwandan goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari delivered a standout performance to help his team secure a goalless draw against Nigeria’s Super Eagles in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
Ntwari, with nine impressive saves, was instrumental in preventing Nigeria’s star-studded attack from finding the back of the net.
The first half saw Rwanda dominate the midfield, but Nigeria’s attack, led by Victor Boniface and Ademola Lookman, created several chances.
Ntwari was consistently up to the task, with his most notable moment being a save after Lookman’s goal in the 21st minute was ruled out for offside. Boniface also came close to scoring in the 35th minute, but his shot hit the crossbar.
In the second half, Nigeria introduced Victor Osimhen and Moses Simon in a bid to break the deadlock. Despite several attempts, including multiple shots from Osimhen, Ntwari remained unbeatable, keeping the score level.
The match ended in a 0-0 draw, with Rwanda celebrating their hard-fought result. Nigeria now leads Group D of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers with four points from two games, two points ahead of second-placed Rwanda.
