The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has reportedly set August 5, 2024, for the release of the results for candidates who sat for the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
According to an announcement circulating on social media, WAEC apologized for the delay in releasing the results, but assured candidates that they would begin accessing their results online starting Monday, August 5.
The announcement read, “WAEC has officially announced that the WAEC 2024 results will be out on Monday, August 5, 2024.
“The West African Examinations Council has acknowledged that certain challenges led to the delay in releasing the results.
“While apologizing for the delay, WAEC has assured all candidates who participated in the examination that 99.5% of the SSCE results are ready and will be available online soon.’’
Plateau News was unable to independently confirm the message, as efforts to reach the WAEC Lagos Office and the Head of Nigeria Office, Dr. Amos Dangut, were unsuccessful.
However, a source from the WAEC Office in Kwara State confirmed the statement to Punch, stating that an official announcement would soon be made on WAEC’s website and social media handles.
The source said, “This is true. A statement should be up on the website and social media handle any moment from now,” confirming the accuracy of the information.
Plateau News recalls that WAEC had earlier confirmed the commencement of the marking and coordination process for the 2024 WASSCE.
On July 10, WAEC wrote on its X platform, “The Coordination and Marking Exercise for the just concluded WASSCE for School Candidates, 2024 has commenced.
“The exercise will be carried out in 86 marking venues and 3 E-marking venues spread across the federation.”
