The Plateau State University Alumni Association (PLASUAA) has conferred its prestigious Life Patron honour on Senator Simon Bako Lalong, KSGG, CON, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the growth and development of Plateau State University.
The investiture ceremony took place on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at Senator Lalong’s official office within the Senate Complex, National Assembly, Abuja.
The PLASUAA delegation was led by its National President, Mr. David Mimiap Daboer, and included the National Secretary, Mr. Nentawe Yilkudi Dominic, Alumni Relations Officer, Mr. Fale Clement, National Treasurer, Miss Godiya Gomos, Assistant National Secretary, Mr. Goodman Nanven Schedule, and other members of the association resident in Abuja.
Speaking during the ceremony, the National President described the honour as a recognition of Senator Lalong’s remarkable role in the establishment, growth, and stabilization of Plateau State University during his tenure as Governor of Plateau State. He noted that the former governor’s commitment to improving academic activities and strengthening the institution earned him the association’s highest recognition.
The Alumni Relations Officer, Mr. Fale Clement, formally presented the Certificate of Life Patronship to Senator Lalong and appealed for his continued mentorship, guidance, and support towards achieving the association’s vision of advancing the university’s development.
In his response, Senator Lalong expressed gratitude to the leadership and members of PLASUAA for the honour, describing it as both humbling and motivating. He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the association and pledged to mobilize friends and other stakeholders to partner with the alumni body in promoting the growth and development of Plateau State University.
The ceremony was attended by several distinguished alumni and stakeholders, including Mr. Naanyil Dielong, Personal Assistant to Hon. John Dafaan, Member representing Shendam/Mikang/Qua’an Pan Federal Constituency, Mr. Mansuk Dapeh (Spash), Mr. Pankyes Alfred Dawum, and other members of the Plateau State University Alumni Association.
The association said the conferment marks a new chapter of collaboration with Senator Lalong in advancing excellence, unity, and sustainable development within the Plateau State University community.
