Breaking: Labour Union Accepts Tinubu’s ₦70,000 Offer As Minimum Wage, Gives Reason

Leaders of organized labor have accepted President Bola Tinubu’s offer of a ₦70,000 minimum wage for Nigerian workers.

The decision came after a meeting held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, attended by leaders from the Trade Union Congress (TUC) and the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC).

Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, stated that the new minimum wage will be reviewed every three years.

NLC President Comrade Joe Ajaero, accompanied by TUC President Comrade Festus Usifo and other labor representatives, explained that the unions accepted the offer due to the additional incentives attached and the commitment to a regular review every three years, a significant improvement over past practices.

Additionally, President Tinubu has pledged to provide 36 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses to labor unions. Each of these buses has a seating capacity of 100, and the initiative aims to alleviate the high cost of living for workers.
