Dr. Patrick Sunday Dakum, CEO of the Institute for Human Virology Nigeria (IHVN), paid a congratulatory visit to Hon. Ayuba Burki Gufwan, the newly appointed Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) on October 31, 2024. Accompanied by his team, including Mr. Jonathan Gukut, Comr. Walshak Kefas, and Comr. Abdulmalik, Dr. Dakum praised Hon. Gufwan’s exceptional community service through the Beautiful Gate Foundation for the Handicap.
Hon. Gufwan warmly welcomed Dr. Dakum and his team, introducing them to key NCPWD officials, including Oguntade A.A. (Mrs.), Director of Human Resources Management; Barr. Ikem U. Uchegbulam Esq., Director of Compliance and Enforcement; Mr. Bayero, Head of ICT; Mrs. Akinbola Olanike Oluwatosin, Head of the Partnership and Program Unit; and Mr. Mbanefo John Michael, Head of Media.
During the meeting, Hon. Gufwan presented Dr. Dakum with five copies of the National Standard Operating Procedures on Inclusion and Access with Disabilities to Pre-Tertiary Education, produced by NCPWD in July 2024. Dr. Dakum congratulated Hon. Gufwan, pledging IHVN’s support for an inclusive society and partnership with NCPWD.
Hon. Gufwan expressed gratitude, discussing challenges faced by the commission and seeking partnership for lasting solutions. He promised to reciprocate the visit, acknowledging Dr. Dakum’s contributions to an inclusive society. Barr. Ikem U. Uchegbulam Esq. jokingly responded, hoping IHVN would comply with NCPWD’s policies during their visit, and thanked the team for coming, praying for journey mercies.
