A moment ago, the Minister designate of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction Dr Nentawe Yilwatda, was confirmed by the 10th Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

A memorable and heartwarming event on the floor of the Red Chamber, was the overwhelming recognition and glowing praises showered on the properiety of the appointment of Dr Nentawe by most ranking senators during the screening exercise.One Senator after the other, that stood up to ask the Minister designate question or make comments, described him as an upright, independent minded, trusted, reliable and most qualified person for that office Of note were the illuminating and impressive assessments of the Minister designate by Senate Minority leader, Abba Moro, Senators Simon Lalong, Diket Plang,Pam Mwatkong, Sani Uba and Ali Ndume among others.

They all spoke glowingly of Dr Nentawe’s pedigree, comportment, virtues, qualification and strength of character as an academic, and administrator, who has an indelible and unblemished record of excellence and integrity.During the questions and answers session, Dr Nentawe stood out by displaying the stuff he is made of, by satisfactorily providing explanations and roadmaps in running the affairs of the Humanitarian Ministry.

Visibly impressed by the outstanding performance of Dr Nentawe during the exercise,the Senate President Senator Godswill Akpabio, interjected by saying in his words “if we continue with this nominee, he’ll lecture us for the whole day, please take a bow and leave”.No sooner had the Senate President President discharged Dr Nentawe with those complimentary remarks, than the Red Chamber was greeted with a thunderous ovation to the point that, the Sergeant-at-Arms had to call for order.Many prominent sons and daughters of Plateau State across Party lines, including the APC State Chairman Hon.Rufus Bature, members of National Assembly, and the gorgeous wife of Dr Nentawe Professor Martina,were at the Senate, to lend their support to the Minister designate.All things being equal, Dr Nentawe is set to be sworn-in, as the Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction.
