The Federal Government has announced that Monday, September 16th, 2024, will be observed as a public holiday in celebration of Eid-ul-Mawlid, which commemorates the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.
This was disclosed in a statement on Friday by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo. The Minister extended his congratulations to the Muslim community, both within Nigeria and abroad, on the occasion of this Islamic festival.
The statement, delivered by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, also emphasized the Minister’s call for the Muslim Ummah and all Nigerians to embrace the values of patience, sacrifice, and resilience.
The Minister encouraged everyone to use this period to pray for lasting peace and the continued progress of Nigeria.
