This project, a part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, is designed to provide sustainable agricultural livelihoods to IDPs in Plateau State, addressing their economic needs and supporting their integration into productive society.
The initiative received widespread acclaim from various dignitaries, including representatives of the Plateau State Governor, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, the Gbom Gwom Jos, Da Jacob Gyang Buba, and Hajiya Fatima Mamman Daura, Director of the IDPs Department.
These leaders praised the project as a significant step towards tackling food insecurity among IDPs and contributing to the nation’s overall agricultural development.The project aims to empower 1,000 beneficiaries across the state, each receiving half a hectare of farmland. Beneficiaries expressed their gratitude and excitement for this opportunity, viewing it as a chance to rebuild their lives and contribute to Nigeria’s agricultural progress.
Chief Samuel Pukat, chairman of the organizing committee and Lead Consultant of Food Masters Nigeria Ltd., thanked the state and federal governments for their confidence in his leadership.
He emphasized the shift this project represents—from traditional to mechanized farming—stressing that this modern approach will enhance productivity and optimize the use of farmland.
The ceremony underscored the critical role of collaboration between government, traditional leaders, and the private sector in addressing the needs of displaced persons.
The Renewed Hope Agricultural Empowerment Project is expected to make a lasting impact, providing IDPs with the means to secure stable futures and contribute meaningfully to the country’s agricultural sector.
