FUE Pankshin Uncovers Fake Certificate Syndicate, Two Jaile
The Federal University of Education (FUE), Pankshin, has uncovered a criminal syndicate involved in forging and issuing fake academic results and certificates in the name of the institution.
The Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Jere Ndazhaga, made this known during a press conference held at the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Centre in Jos, Plateau State.
Professor Ndazhaga explained that the discovery was triggered when a suspicious certificate was presented at the university’s Examinations and Records Section. He said the vigilance and professionalism of staff raised red flags, prompting immediate internal action.
According to him, the matter was swiftly escalated to the University Security Unit and the Nigeria Police, leading to the arrest of two suspects identified as Mr. Friday Tunkyes and Mr. Harvey Obed Ringsum. A search conducted on the suspects reportedly led to the recovery of several forged certificates as well as official embossed stamps belonging to the university.
The Acting Vice-Chancellor disclosed that the suspects were subsequently prosecuted by the police, found guilty, and sentenced to one and a half years’ imprisonment each.
Professor Ndazhaga reaffirmed the institution’s zero tolerance for fraud and its commitment to safeguarding the integrity and credibility of its academic processes. He also advised employers, institutions, and members of the public to always verify certificates issued by FUE Pankshin through the appropriate university channels to avoid falling victim to fraud.
He emphasized that the university would continue to work closely with security agencies to ensure that individuals involved in such criminal activities are exposed and brought to justice.
