President Bola Tinubu has approved significant appointments in key national institutions, aiming to bolster educational development, solid minerals management, and African partnerships. The Special Adviser to the president on information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed this in a statement on Friday.
Appointments
- National Universities Commission (NUC):
- Prof. Abdullahi Yusuf Ribadu has been appointed Executive Secretary.
- Ribadu, a distinguished expert in veterinary reproduction, previously served as Vice-Chancellor at the Federal University of Technology, Yola, and Sule Lamido University, Jigawa State.
- Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC):
- Prof. Salisu Shehu has been named Executive Secretary.
- Shehu, a notable academic in human psychology and education, contributed to establishing the School of Continuing Education at Bayero University, Kano, and served as Vice-Chancellor of Al-Istiqamah University, Kano.
- New Partnership for Africa Development (NEPAD):
- Jabilu Tsauri has been appointed National Coordinator.
- With a Master’s in International Affairs and Diplomacy from Ahmadu Bello University, Tsauri brings expertise in legislative affairs, governance, and international relations.
- Solid Minerals Development Fund/Presidential Artisanal Gold Mining Initiative (SMDF/PAGMI):
- Yazid Shehu Umar Danfulani has been named Executive Secretary.
- Danfulani holds degrees in Business Administration and Arts and Management from the University of Hertfordshire, UK. He has extensive experience in banking, commerce, and industry, having worked with the Central Bank of Nigeria and served as Commissioner for Commerce and Industry in Zamfara State.
