The Labour Party (LP) held a stakeholders’ meeting in Umuahia, Abia State, where Senator Esther Nenadi Usman was appointed Chairman of the party’s Caretaker Committee.
Usman, a former Minister of Finance and former Senator representing Kaduna South, will lead a 29-member committee tasked with resolving the party’s leadership crisis.
Senator Darlington Nwokocha, the immediate-past Senate Minority Deputy Leader, will serve as the committee’s Secretary.
The committee, which has a 90-day mandate, will organize a convention to elect new leadership from the ward level to the national stage.
Key figures like Peter Obi, Datti Ahmed, Senator Victor Umeh, and Lagos State governorship candidate Rhodes-Vivour attended the meeting, which was hosted by Governor Alex Otti.
